Truthfully, we had no idea going into this wedding just how incredibly emotional and special it would turn out to be. I did have an inkling that Liza & Joe would be total naturals on camera, just based on the fact that our Skype session was the smiley-est I’ve ever experienced. I’m a sucker for seriously happy people – who isn’t? Turns out, Liza & Joe are also collectively two of the most genuine, warm-hearted people I’ve ever met. Their love is so apparent in every glance they make at each other and the immense bonds they have between their families and friends instantly made us feel like we were part of a super awesome, exclusive club of happy people, if only for a day.
I’ve said this before, but I’ll say it again: I love when a bride gets ready at the home she grew up in. It’s incredibly special. You can feel it all around you. I loved seeing photos of Liza & her brother and their family displayed all throughout her parent’s home in Dunmore, and I loved witnessing the still-ever-so-real love between her mother and father. The moment when her mom helps her dad put his cufflinks on is one of my favorite moments I’ve captured… ever. Special. Is the word.
And then, while all of this adorableness was happening in Dunmore, over in Scranton, Joe was getting ready with his guys, drinking beers, laughing up a storm. (Miranda loved every moment.) Just as the guys left the hotel, Liza’s brother gave Joe an envelope he wasn’t expecting. Inside was a letter Liza had written to her future husband at a time when she was feeling her lowest, before the two had even met. It was an incredibly heartfelt, special letter that Joe read moments before he stepped into the church to see Liza walk down the aisle to him. After they said their vows and were announced husband and wife, Liza squealed – literally – and everyone in the church burst into laughter. Special. That word again.
