Back in June 2011, we met the May family when we captured Sarah + Dan’s wedding at Moonstone Manor. Little did we know their wedding film would turn out to be one of our most popular and beloved, which we know has so much to do with the warmth, emotions and romance that overflowed on Sarah + Dan’s day. For this reason, we were so excited when Kerry May contacted us to capture her + Dave’s wedding in May 2013. I remembered Kerry instantly, because her Maid of Honor speech was so heartfelt and emotional, and just because it’s hard to forget people when you spend hours upon hours editing footage of them, no matter how big or small a role they play in the film. I knew so much about Kerry + Dave’s wedding day would be different. They were getting married at Tendenza, an ultra-modern, chic venue in Philly’s Northern Liberties (a huge foodie neighborhood that we’ve spent a fair amount of time in because our family lives there). Their wedding was also taking place on a Friday night, as its custom in Jewish tradition to be married just before sundown on the sabbath – which of course also means it was a Jewish wedding (which have a huge and special place in my heart because of their rich customs and meanings).

When Mark & I arrived at Tendenza the day of their wedding, I felt an instant sense of calm and togetherness. We knew Kerry + Dave really valued having us there to capture their wedding film and they made us feel like part of the celebration from the start. Because of this, their first looks turned out to be some of our most cinematic and their vows, some of our most meaningful. (They did of course have a perfect example to follow in Sarah + Dan’s film, which never hurts!) Sometimes, people just get it and for that, we are ever so grateful.

Kerry + Dave made our jobs so easy. We’ve never had a groom this emotional — and I know Dave was getting ragged on throughout the entire day because of it — but it was sincere and heartfelt and just who he is. It was incredible to watch their families and friends celebrate with them as it was so obvious how big everyone’s love is for Kerry + Dave. We are so grateful to have captured this special celebration in Kerry + Dave’s lives and hope the tradition has only just begun.
