Sometimes, if you’re really lucky, you get a couple who instantly clicks with you within the first email. Anna & Matt were this couple for us. Anna’s first email went something like this – “I think I NEED you at our wedding. Just saying.” Maybe I’m a weird (yes) writing nerd (totally yes) but Anna’s two brief sentences sounded eerily reminiscent of things I type on a daily basis to my friends. When I finally got to know Anna & Matt better through emails and hangouts, I quickly realized a few things – Anna & Matt are inseparable best friends. (You can see it in the way they look at each other.) Anna’s humor is QUICK and AMAZING. (Too many times during hair + makeup did I have to turn the camera off because of my laughing fits.) Matt is crazy sweet and sincere. (Watch how he tears up as Anna walks down the aisle.) Because of this, Mark & I felt so at ease capturing these two and their friends and family on their wedding day. Anna & Matt’s wedding celebration was the definition of a vintage barn wedding. I literally gasped when I first saw Anna’s bridesmaids all dressed together in mismatched aqua, retro inspired dresses and little, white lace gloves. (DREAMY. And true story, this inspired me to get gloves for my bridesmaids a few months later.) Our dear friends Maggpie Vintage Rentals cozied up the barn with a lounge a la Anna’s “granny chic” style. The tables and nooks were adorned with old books and tiny mason jars of floral arrangements. The ceremony was filled with personal, poetic readings and Anna’s maids walked down the aisle to a live, instrumental performance of Death Cab For Cutie’s “Transatlanticism.” (The indie-est.) The cake table had not one, not two, but SEVEN cakes! And everything was aglow in birdhouse colors – aqua and orange – which happened to be Anna & Matt’s wedding palette. :) To top it all off, our buddy Danielle Pasternak kept everything running smoothly on the day-of. We had a blast shooting a bit of super 8mm and HD footage alongside new friends, Jessica Ames Photography, and so much fun cutting these two films together for Anna & Matt. Best of all, we’re so glad to now be able to call these two friends. Even though we live 3+ hours apart, I still love them to pieces and am so glad our paths crossed thanks to a little thing like a wedding.
